There are so many sophists and demagogues wandering around out there. Even if we ourselves have critical thinking skills, it is easy for us to get angry that someone else is a sophist or fearful that other people will be misled by a demagogue. The media environment is set up to encourage sophistry, unfortunately. Bullshitting / gaslighting gets "clicks" and is very persuasive to those to those prone to confirmation bias.
